How to watch the India vs. Australia 3rd ODI online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the game locally, you may need a different way to watch the match — that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it’s also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Quick tips for streaming cricket using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming live cricket may vary.
    • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
    • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
    • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

The second-gen AirPods Pro are Apple’s most advanced pair of earbuds to date, equipped with its brand-new H2 processor and boasting seriously improved noise-canceling capabilities. The 2022 AirPods Pro maintain the $249 retail price of the now previous-gen AirPods Pro from 2019. They have been selling for as low as $200 at Verizon, which is still the best deal around — and you don’t have to be an existing Verizon customer to get in on this deal. Apple’s original AirPods Pro have been discontinued, so they’re gradually getting a little harder to find. You can no longer buy them from Apple directly, but you can grab a pair for $195 at B&H, which saves you $54 compared to the original list price and the current price of the new second-gen AirPods Pro at Apple. While a clear step down from the new AirPods Pro 2, this discount may be worth snagging for bargain hunters.

Unlike the AirPods Pro, these third-generation AirPods have an open-air design, so they don’t have active noise cancellation, but they still offer some serious improvements over the AirPods 2. The adaptive EQ attunes music to your ear shape, and the battery life has been bumped up to 30 hours total. They also have an IPX4 water resistance rating. With the Lightning charging case, the third-gen AirPod Pros cost $169 at Apple. For an extra $10, you can get the MagSafe Charging case that can be used with wireless chargers. Slight discounts have been available off and on at various retailers and right now you can get AirPods 3 for $150 at Best Buy.

While the AirPods 2 are the least advanced model on the market these days, they still boast some impressive specs and are a great choice for those on a tighter budget. They’re equipped with the same H1 chip as the AirPods 3, so they have the same fast connectivity, and they support hands-free Siri access. They’re available for $99 currently, which is $30 less than Apple sells them for these days.

Apple’s first full-size headphones are chock-full of high-end features like noise cancellation, spatial audio and easy integration with Apple devices. Yes, paying about the same as you would for a PS5 may sound excessive, but here’s the thing: They’re actually kinda worth it, so long as you don’t feel burned by their lack of support for full lossless audio. Technically, the Beats Fit Pro aren’t AirPods, but they’re built on the same tech platform as the AirPods Pro. Unlike Beats’ earlier and less expensive Studio Buds, the Beats Fit Pro include Apple’s H1 chip and have most of the features of the AirPods Pro, including active noise canceling, spatial audio and Adaptive EQ. I’d venture to call them the sports AirPods you’ve always wanted. And for some people, they might just be better than the AirPods Pro. They’re a good deal right now at $40 off. That’s only $10 more than the all-time low price.

No, they’re not AirPods, but the Beats Studio Buds offer active noise canceling and make a great affordable alternative to the pricier AirPods Pro. They look a lot like the rumored stemless AirPods that people were talking about but that never materialized — as AirPods, anyway. Geared toward both iOS and Android users, they’re missing a few key features on the Apple side of things (there’s no H1 or W1 chip), but they’re small, lightweight earbuds that are comfortable to wear and offer good sound. They fit most ears securely, including mine — I run with them without a problem — but others may find a better fit with the Beats Fit Pro and their integrated wing tips. You can save $30 on them at Amazon and Best Buy right now.

Which AirPods are right for you?

Apple’s wireless audio lineup now includes five models of AirPods, and choosing the right set will depend on the features you care about and the price you are willing to pay. The second-gen AirPods from 2019 are the least expensive option, while the current, third-gen AirPods boast better sound quality with spatial audio. Meanwhile, the AirPods Pro 2, which have active noise cancellation and transparency modes, are Apple’s most advanced earbuds to date and the first to feature Apple’s new H2 chip. The plush AirPods Max, by far the priciest of the bunch, are Apple’s over-ear headphones and come packed with high-end features though no H2 chip.

Along with Apple-branded AirPods, there are a couple of Beats-branded earbuds worth considering that also incorporate Apple-made tech for a similarly smooth experience. These include the Beats Fit Pro, which use Apple’s H1 chip for fast, reliable connections and a sporty design for jamming out to tunes at the gym, or while running or otherwise exercising and being active. The Beats Studio Buds lack the H1 chip and the AirPod stem, but they are lightweight, comfortable and affordable.

Except for the baseline AirPods 2, all the AirPods listed above (plus the two aforementioned Beats models) are compatible with Apple’s spatial audio features. However, none of them will deliver the maximum quality of Apple’s lossless audio format, which is too rich for the current Bluetooth wireless standard to handle.

  • How to Start Saving Money on Streaming Services Now

How to Start Saving Money on Streaming Services Now

Between the impending rollout of Netflix’s account-sharing fees and a wave of streaming service price hikes, it may feel like a luxury to stream. If you add up the costs of each platform, you may discover you’re spending $500 or more per year. But you don’t have to burden your wallet.

Let’s say you’re subscribed to multiple streaming platforms, you watch one or two of them until your favorite series ends its season, then look for the next thing. But is it worth keeping all those accounts active if you’re not watching anything on them? I don’t think so.

Have a look at this budget-conscious strategy to help you save on your streaming TV expenses.

    Rotate your streaming subscriptions

CNET Tech Tips logoCNET Tech Tips logo

For cord-cutters, shifting from cable to streaming can be a wise financial move. Because you’re able to sign up for monthly plans, it’s easy to jump into a streaming service and jump out when prices increase or content gets dull. But according to Deloitte’s 2022 Media Trends report, the main reasons people cancel their streaming subscriptions are because of costs and lack of fresh content. Media companies call this behavior “churn.” We’re calling this the rotation method, and you should try it.

The incentive? You save your coin and avoid content droughts. Let’s say a popular show like Ted Lasso or The Masked Singer is set to premiere on a streaming service. Find the total episode count and wait until they’re all available at once on a platform. You cancel Apple TV Plus, Hulu, Disney Plus or other service and then, once all the episodes are available, resubscribe to catch up. Alternatively, you can start streaming a show midseason to cut costs. My monthly guide on which streaming services to cancel can help you keep up.

The downside? You won’t have immediate access to every show you want to watch and will have to wait until the full season airs. And since many streaming services release new episodes weekly, you might not be caught up at the same time as your friends. If you’re someone who prefers to watch episodes immediately when they drop, you may decide it’s worth it to have multiple subscriptions at a time. If you have patience, however, you can save some money.

The strategy can also work if you have a live TV streaming service to watch a particular sport or major event like March Madness. Once the season wraps, cancel the service or move to a cheaper platform with fewer channels, like Sling TV.

Need help figuring out the best way to rotate? Follow the tips below to learn how to churn streaming platforms until your wallet feels content.

Ted lasso standing in the locker roomTed lasso standing in the locker room

Why pay for three months of Apple TV Plus to watch Ted Lasso’s final season when you can watch all 12 episodes in May for the price of one month?

    Apple TV Plus

Tip No. 1: Cancel your subscription before getting charged

Set calendar reminders for your billing cycle and upcoming TV show or movie release dates. Give yourself enough warning to begin or end a subscription. Apps such as JustWatch, TV Time and Hobi help you track when and where TV shows and movies appear on a streaming service. And JustWatch added a tracker specifically for sports. If you have a smart home device from Google or Amazon, you can set reminders for specific dates and allow a voice assistant like Alexa to notify you of an upcoming bill or streaming release date.

Tip No. 2: Sign up for streaming service deals

Look for discounts on streaming services. For example, Starz is now $3 per month for three months, a drop from its regular $9-a-month rate. You can also take advantage of the Disney Bundle, which provides access to Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus in a single package for a reduced price. And eligible Hulu subscribers can add on Disney Plus for $2. Lastly, be sure to check with your mobile carrier to see which ones offer free streaming subscriptions.

Tip No. 3: Pick one or two default streaming services

Subscribe to one or two must-have services for the year, and select only one or two more options to fit your monthly budget. Rotate the bonus service(s) according to what you want to watch, ensuring you don’t miss your favorite shows while sticking to your monthly spending cap.

Tip No. 4: Use monthly billing only

Avoid annual subscriptions and pay attention to your auto-renewal payment dates. Your billing cycle can help determine when it’s the best time to quit a service, even if you’ve only signed up for a free trial. The only advantage to signing up for an annual plan is when the price is drastically cut down.

Tip No. 5: Don’t cancel your subscription, pause it

Hulu allows you to pause your subscription for up to 12 weeks, and Sling has a similar option with stipulations. Check with your streaming provider to see if you can take a temporary break without canceling.

Give it a shot, and if you don’t like it you can always resubscribe. For more excellent tips on streaming TV, check out this guide to Netflix’s hidden tricks and our tips on the best VPNs.

  • Adobe: Our New Generative AI Will Help Creative Pros, Not Hurt Them

Adobe: Our New Generative AI Will Help Creative Pros, Not Hurt Them

In 2022, OpenAI’s Dall-E service wowed the world with the ability to turn text prompts into images. Now Adobe has built its own version of this generative AI technology with tools that begin a technological overhaul of the company’s widely used creative tools.

On Tuesday, Adobe released the first two members of its new Firefly collection of generative AI tools for beta testing. The first tool creates an image based on a text prompt like “fierce alligator leaping out of the water during a lightning storm,” with hundreds of styles that can tweak results. The other applies prompt-based styles to text, letting people create letters that look hairy, scaly, mossy or however else they want.

Firefly for now is available on Adobe’s website, but the company will build generative AI directly into other tools, starting with its Photoshop image editing software, Illustrator for designs and Adobe Express for creating quick videos. The company hasn’t revealed its pricing approach for the new tools.

Creative professionals might see Firefly as an incursion into their creative domain, going beyond mechanical tools like selecting colors and trimming videos into the heart and soul of their jobs. With AI showing new smarts when it comes to translating documents, interpreting tax code, composing music and creating travel itineraries, it’s not irrational for professionals to feel spooked.

Like other AI fans, though, Adobe sees artificial intelligence as the latest digital tool to amplify what humans can do. For example, Firefly eventually could let people use Adobe tools to tailor designs to individuals instead of just creating one design for a broad audience, said Alexandru Costin, vice president of Adobe’s generative AI work.

“We don’t think AI will replace creative creators. We think that creators using AI will be more competitive than creators not using AI. This is why we want to bring AI to the fingertips of all our user base,” Costin said. “The only way to succeed in AI is to embrace it.”

Adobe’s Firefly products are trained from the company’s own library of stock images, along with public domain and licensed works. The company has worked to reduce the bias in training data that AI models can reflect, for example that business executives are male.

    AI is a “sea change”

Artificial intelligence uses processes inspired by human brains for computing tasks, trained to recognize patterns in complex real-world data instead of following traditional and rigid if-this-then-that programming. With advances in AI hardware, software, algorithms and training data, the field is advancing rapidly and touching just about every corner of tech.

The latest flavor of the technology, generative AI, can create new material on its own. The best known example, ChatGPT, can write software, hold conversations and compose poetry. Microsoft is employing ChatGPT’s technology foundation, GPT-4, to boost Bing search results, offer email writing tips and help build presentations

AI tools are sprouting up all over. Adobe has used AI for years under its Sensei brand for features like recognizing human subjects in Lightroom photos and transcribing speech into text in Premiere Pro videos. EbSynth applies a photo’s style to a video, HueMint creates color palettes and LeiaPix converts 2D photos into 3D scenes.

But it’s the new generative AI that brings new creative possibilities to digital art and design.

“It’s a sea change,” said Forrester analyst David Truog.

An illustration Adobe's use of generative AI to style the letter N so it looks mossy, golden, or made or thousands of red particles. An illustration Adobe's use of generative AI to style the letter N so it looks mossy, golden, or made or thousands of red particles.

One of the first members of Adobe’s Firefly family of generative AI tools will style text based on prompts like “the letter N made of gold with intricate ornaments.”

    Adobe

Alpaca offers a Photoshop plug-in to generate art, and Aug X Labs can turn a text prompt into a video. Google’s MusicLM converts text to music, though it’s not open to the public. Dall-E captured the internet’s attention with its often fantastical imagery — the name marries Pixar’s WALL-E robot with the surrealist painter Salvador Dalí.

Related tools like Midjourney and Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion spread the technology even further.

If Adobe didn’t offer generative AI abilities, creative pros and artists would get them from somewhere else.

Indeed, Microsoft on Tuesday incorporated Dall-E technology with its Bing Image Creator service.

Training AIs isn’t easy, but it’s getting less difficult, at least for those who have a healthy budget. Chip designer Nvidia on Tuesday announced that Adobe is using its new H100 Hopper GPU to train Firefly models through a new service called Picasso. Other Picasso customers include photo licensing companies Getty Images and Shutterstock.

    Legal engineering

Developing good AI isn’t just a technical matter. Adobe set up Firefly to sidestep legal and social problems that AI poses.

For example, three artists sued Stability AI and Midjourney in January over the use of their works in AI training data. They “seek to end this blatant and enormous infringement of their rights before their professions are eliminated by a computer program powered entirely by their hard work,” their lawsuit said.

Getty Images also sued Stability AI, alleging that it “unlawfully copied and processed millions of images protected by copyright.” It offers licenses to its enormous catalog of photos and other images for AI training, but Stability AI didn’t license the images. Stability AI, DeviantArt and Midjourney didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Adobe wants to assure artists that they needn’t worry about such problems. There are no copyright problems, no brand logos, and no Mickey Mouse characters. “You don’t want to infringe somebody else’s copyright by mistake,” Costin said.

The approach is smart, Truog said.

“What Adobe is doing with Firefly is strategically very similar to what Apple did by introducing the iTunes Music Store 20 years ago,” he said. Back then, Napster music sharing showed demand for online music, but the recording industry lawsuits crushed the idea. “Apple jumped in and designed a service that let people access music online but legally, more easily, and in a way that compensated the content creators instead of just stealing from them.”

Adobe also worked to counteract another problem that could make businesses leery, showing biased or stereotypical imagery.

It’s now up to Adobe to convince creative pros that it’s time to catch the AI wave.

“The introduction of digital creativity has increased the number of creative jobs, not decreased them, even if at the time it looked like a big threat,” Costin said. “We think the same thing will happen with generative AI.”

World Baseball Classic 2023: How to Watch USA vs. Japan Tonight From Anywhere

Japan won its semifinal game against Mexico in the World Baseball Classic last night in thrilling fashion, coming back from three runs down and punching its ticket to the final with a walk-off, two-run double by Munetaka Murakami, the current home run champion of Nippon Professional Baseball. The US had an easier time in its semifinal game on Sunday, cruising to a 14-2 victory against Cuba behind four innings of one-run ball each by Adam Wainwright and Miles Mikolas, and four RBIs apiece from Paul Goldschmidt and Trea Turner.

It sets up a titanic clash of baseball powers tonight in Miami for the championship game of the World Baseball Classic. The US is the defending champion, winning the last WBC tournament in 2017, and Japan is the only two-time WBC winner with back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2009. Lefty Shota Imanaga will start on the mound for Japan with MLB All-Stars Yu Darvish and Shohei Ohtani available in relief. The US will give the ball to Merrill Kelly, a right-hander who plays for the Arizona Diamondbacks. If Ohtani enters the game in relief, he could face Mike Trout, his Los Angeles Angels teammate.

First pitch for the US-Japan game is scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) on FS1. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the WBC final, with or without cable.

What are the projected starting lineups for the WBC final?

This was the lineup USA used against Cuba and its southpaw starter:

    1. Mookie Betts, RF
    2. Mike Trout, CF
    3. Paul Goldschmidt, 1B
    4. Nolan Arenado, 3B
    5. Kyle Schwarber, LF
    6. Will Smith, C
    7. Pete Alonso, DH
    8. Tim Anderson, 2B
    9. Trea Turner, SS

Most of the spots are set, but we could see Kyle Tucker in left field in place of Schwarber or J.T. Realmuto behind the plate instead of Smith.

Japan has had success with this lineup throughout the tournament:

    1. Lars Nootbaar, CF
    2. Kensuke Kondoh, RF
    3. Shohei Ohtani, DH
    4. Masataka Yoshida, LF
    5. Munetaka Murakami, 3B

How to use a VPN to watch the WBC from anywhere

If you’re traveling outside your home country and want to watch the WBC, or just want an added layer of privacy for streaming, there is an option that doesn’t require searching the internet for a sketchy website: You can use a VPN, or virtual private network.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to WBC broadcasts, which comes in handy if you find yourself unable to view the games locally. A VPN is the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds by encrypting your traffic. Using a VPN is also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

If you can’t find a convenient opportunity to watch the WBC where you live, using a VPN with a US-based server should provide access to some or all of the streaming options listed below. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, as long as you’ve got a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions. ExpressVPN is our current best VPN pick for people who want a reliable and safe VPN, and it works on a variety of devices. It’s normally $13 per month, and you can sign up for ExpressVPN and save 49% plus get three months of access for free — the equivalent of $6.67 per month — if you get an annual subscription. Note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Quick tips for streaming the WBC using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — experience and success may vary.

Pixel Buds Pro are premium wireless earbuds featuring active noise canceling. They’re some of our favorite earbuds, particularly for Android users. CNET’s David Carnoy reviewed these earbuds and found the design and fit make this pair a true stand out, explaining such features, “helps enhance their strong performance on both the sound quality and noise-canceling fronts.” They also get up to 11 hours of battery life per charge and good voice-calling performance. They also sport a transparency mode. Normally $200, you can snag a pair for $150 right now.

And for even less, you can grab the budget-friendly Pixel Buds A-Series for $79. That’s a $20 discount on the list price. Both are rated IPX4-rated water-resistant or splash-proof, which means they can handle a little moisture at the gym or weather while on the go. And for Android users, there is also access to Google Assistant for hands-free voice commands. Apple users can use either of these Pixel Buds, however they’ll lose access to a few key features, which is why we recommend pairing these earbuds with an Android device.

  • Best Sneaker and Streetwear Resale Apps of 2023

Best Sneaker and Streetwear Resale Apps of 2023

You usually won’t be able to find sought after sneakers and streetwear items at your local store. Many brands release items through their online stores, or through online raffle systems. If you don’t log onto the site in time, you aren’t picked in the raffle or these systems run into problems with the influx of other people trying to get these items, you’ll likely miss out. But you can probably find these on resale apps.

Sneaker and streetwear resale apps offer these coveted clothing items, but usually at an inflated price. According to a report by culture website Hypebeast, a shirt from streetwear brand Supreme might sell for $48 retail and resell on an app for $158. Similarly, some sneakers, like those made in collaboration between Jordan Brand and rapper Travis Scott, might sell for $175 retail and resell on an app for close to $2,000.

Even if you’re not interested in wearing these items, you might still be interested in using resale apps. Cowen Equity Research calls sneakers an emerging alternative asset class, and it believes the sneaker resale market value could reach $30 billion by 2030 — five times its 2019 valuation of $6 billion. Some financial advice sites, like MoneyMade, say sneakers also have a higher and faster return on investment than stocks.

For this list, we checked that each app has an authentication process in place to verify an item is authentic and not a fake or representation. We also checked that each app offered items from popular sneaker brands, like Jordan, Nike, Adidas and New Balance, and that each app offered clothing from popular brands, like Supreme and Off-White.

While many of these apps have an average delivery time of two weeks or less, delivery times are reliant on multiple factors, like sellers, whether an item was recently released and the mail service. Because of that, delivery times did not play into whether an app made this list or not.

Whether you want to collect new styles or diversify your investment portfolio, here are some of our favorite sneaker and streetwear resale apps.

All of these apps are free to download and use so you don’t have to use one exclusively. It could even be beneficial to use multiple apps in conjunction, that way you can find the items you want, compare prices and get the best deals.

GOAT has more than 300,000 items for sale in its inventory, which is more than most other apps on this list. The app offers digital lookbooks — a catalog of photos showing a designer’s recent or upcoming collection — to help you build an outfit. The app also lets you see how some sneakers look on you by using augmented reality. If you’re a seller, you can store items in GOAT’s storage warehouses to free up space in your home or place of business. If you’re a buyer, you can buy these stored items for faster delivery, but the price is usually higher than non-stored items. You can also buy used items at discounted rates on the app, so one pair of sneakers or a jacket won’t drain your bank account.

You might run into some glitches while using the GOAT app, though. One glitch I ran into involved the Wants list. I added items to this list to return to later, but then when I checked the list later those items weren’t in the list, defeating the whole purpose. This glitch in particular might make it difficult to remember whether you like the New Balance 990v3 or the 990v4 more, but it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. (In case you’re wondering, I’d say the 990v3 is the right choice.)

Between the GOAT’s huge inventory, seller-friendly storage and the ability to buy used items for much cheaper than unused — or dead stock — items, you can get everything you want and more from GOAT. This app has something for everybody, if you don’t mind the hiccups.

You can download GOAT in the App Store or the Google Play store.

eBay is the original online resale marketplace. One of the app’s biggest strengths is its one-of-a-kind items. You can find game-worn sneakers, signed clothes and more on eBay that you wouldn’t find elsewhere, in addition to new and used sneakers and streetwear items.

However, it can be more difficult to find the specific configuration of items you want in eBay’s app. Some other apps collect all the listings of a particular item into one centralized page where you can select the size, like many other shopping web pages. Unfortunately, eBay doesn’t have centralized pages for items, so you might have to dig through results before finding your size.

eBay can be a gold mine of rare and unique items you won’t be able to find anywhere else. You might also get these items at a discount if the seller isn’t sure what they have. However, you should expect to do more searching on eBay for an item you want, as compared to other apps on this list. If you have patience though, you could strike the motherlode.

You can download eBay in the App Store or the Google Play store.

StockX is like a Bloomberg terminal, but instead of the terminal showing value trends for stocks and futures, it shows you sneaker and streetwear market trends. If you tap into any item you’ll see market data on that item, like the item’s average sale price and its sale range and value volatility. You can also see a graph with multiple time intervals showing how much the items have sold for. This data could help you figure out if the item you’re interested in is overpriced, or if it’s the cheapest it’s ever been — in which case, the price will likely rise soon.

But StockX has run into some legal trouble in the past. Nike sued StockX in May, 2022 after it said StockX sold counterfeit Nikes on its app. StockX wrote in a statement that it maintains a rigorous authentication program and that Nike’s allegations lack details and “contradict Nike’s own past dealings with StockX.” The company claims Nike has tried to collaborate with StockX on authentication in the past and had never brought up any concerns about the authenticity of products sold on StockX prior to the lawsuit. This lawsuit is ongoing, but it might make someone think twice before buying items on the app. In addition to shipping costs and taxes, StockX also charges a processing fee that varies depending on the price of the item you’re buying, which is unique among reselling apps on this list. This additional charge means you could be spending more per item on StockX than on other apps.

StockX offers interesting market data on all items in its inventory that can help you figure out if you should buy an item now or hold off because its value is about to drop. That said, the app’s legal trouble with Nike might cause some people to question the app’s verification process, and processing fees might drive the price of items beyond what someone is willing to pay. Even if you don’t buy items through StockX, it’s a good resource to reference when looking to update your wardrobe.

You can download StockX in the App Store or the Google Play store.

Grailed lets you shop by styles, so if you’re looking for vintage items, you can find them all in one place. Other apps offer lookbooks, but these don’t extend past the recent fashion season. With Grailed, you can find Von Dutch hats and Diesel shirts to complete your 2000s aesthetic or vintage band tees to give you an old-school look.

Grailed doesn’t have as large of an inventory as some other apps on this list, and like eBay, it doesn’t have centralized pages for items. That means you’ll likely search for an item and scroll through the results before you find what you’re looking for. And there’s no guarantee you’ll find it, either. For example, when I searched for a certain Nike sneaker in the app, it returned six results for the sneaker but none were in my size.

Grailed is a good app to round out your own style. Instead of mixing and matching items, you can easily find items that all have a similar look, making it easy to build full outfits from. The app’s limited inventory will likely push you to other apps for certain items, but you can always use Grailed as a reference for what you’re looking for.

You can download Grailed in the App Store.

Stadium Goods has one of the simplest shopping interfaces compared to other apps on this list. As soon as you open the app, you are met by a banner that reads “Shop Jordan.” Swipe on this banner and you see the same message for other brands. Tapping on these banners pulls up all the results for that particular brand, all of this without finding the search menu or scrolling through the homepage to find the brand you’re looking for.

The downside? Stadium Goods carries 23 total brands, which is fewer than any other app on this list. You’ll be able to find popular brands, like Jordan, Nike and Adidas on this app, but you’ll have to look on other apps for items from Balenciaga, Gucci and more.

Learning how to navigate a new app can be hard. But the Stadium Goods app is easy to understand, and it’s easy to find items quickly on. However, if you want an item from a brand that’s not as popular as others, you have to look on another app.

You can download Stadium Goods in the App Store or the Google Play store.

  • Best Places to Sell Your Used Electronics for 2023

Best Places to Sell Your Used Electronics for 2023

Whether you’re the type who likes to upgrade their phone or tablet each year, or you just have some extra gear laying around that you’d rather turn into cash, knowing where to look can help maximize your profits. There are a lot of places to sell tech these days, but not all of them are created the same.

It can be hard to find the best price for your device across dozens of websites, so that’s why we’ve rounded up some of the best sites and services out there that will buy your used electronics at a fair price. If you’re ready to start selling your cast-off devices for some extra cash or other incentives, read on.

There are plenty of companies where you can sell electronics — places that’ll happily buy old fitness trackers, smartwatches, gaming consoles, laptops, digital cameras and other electronic equipment. In exchange, they’ll send you cold hard cash, often in the form of a gift card or PayPal transfer. (Not too shabby for that MacBook gathering dust in your closet.) You can even sell your old electronics without having to visit a physical location such as a pawn shop, now that used electronics website options are becoming more popular. And you won’t have to worry about paying for shipping or shouldering the cost of a fee, which is somewhat commonplace with services that sell electronics and old equipment.

The prices offered with trade-in programs on an old device are usually a little lower than what you could sell electronics for, but the reduced price is worth forgoing the headache of trying to sell on your own. Some places will even take broken items, but keep in mind that broken tech will sell at a much lower cost than a gadget that is still in good working order.

Read on to see the best places to sell electronics and gadgets, unless it’s one of these seven used items — those things you should probably never buy or sell.

Turn those old phones into cash.

    Apple

Payment Method: Direct deposit, Paypal or charity donation

Turnaround Time: Three to five days, depending on shipping

If you’ve never used Decluttr before, you’re in for a treat. This is one of the fastest bidding services you can use for selling a ton of different kinds of tech. Plug in your details to the form, and you’ll see a bid for your gadget in seconds. As long as it’s a bid you like, you’ll be presented with an option to complete the sale and start the shipping process. Payments are made quickly, which is why this company has one of the highest TrustPilot ratings you can find.

    Payment Method: Direct deposit

Turnaround Time: Within 6 business days

BackMarket makes it very easy to trade in your old gear for cash in your account, quickly. The company accepts phones, tablets, game consoles and even headphones with payouts of up to $815 depending on the product and its condition. Getting started is quick and easy, all you have to do is answer a few questions and then you’ll see the offer. If you accept, you ship your device out (which is free), and then once it’s inspected they send you the money.

    Payment method: Amazon gift card

Turnaround time: Two business days after Amazon receives the item

Amazon’s trade-in program works a lot like its retail store. You do an easy search for an electronic item, enter any necessary details (storage, screen size and so on) and then select the device’s condition. Amazon will then make an offer for your electronic gadget and, if you accept it, provide a free shipping label for the item.

The number of items Amazon accepts spans across a wide spectrum, including video doorbells, wireless routers and other home security devices.

Once you ship the item, Amazon will inspect it to ensure the item matches your original description. If it all checks out, your Amazon account is credited with an Amazon eGift card for the offer amount. If the item is in better condition than you described, Amazon’s customer service promises to pay you more.

If you’d rather trade-in a device in person, Amazon has a list of locations, where you can take Amazon devices and select phones. Amazon states that even nonworking devices can be accepted.

The drawback? Your money is locked to your Amazon account.

Payment method: Apple Store gift card

Turnaround time: Instant if done in an Apple Store. Two to three weeks if done online

Apple’s trade-in program will take devices from a wide range of companies, not just its own. Currently, Apple will accept your laptop, smartphones, tablets, watches and “other” devices and old equipment. If the company doesn’t have a trade-in offer for your device, like iPods or AirPods, Apple will recycle it free of charge.

Apple states it will take two to three weeks to complete the online trade-in process. If you want to place your order for a new device right now, the company will credit your payment method with the trade-in value once it’s processed. Alternatively, if Apple Stores are open in your area, you can visit the store and get an instant store credit for your trade-in. It’s especially helpful with the launch of the iPhone 14.

Using Apple’s trade-in service makes sense if you’re already planning on buying a new iPhone or Mac. It’s not a worthwhile option for someone who wants to buy the latest Samsung Galaxy phone, for example.

Payment method: Best Buy gift card

Turnaround time: Instant if done in store. Seven to nine business days if mailing in an item.

Getting a quote from Best Buy is as simple as picking a product category, manufacturer, model and condition. Once you’ve filled out the questionnaire, the tool will estimate the unwanted device and give you an instant quote. The offer amount, if you choose to accept it, will only be awarded as store credit in the form of a Best Buy gift card.

The company lists just a handful of stores that don’t participate in the trade-in program.

Best Buy’s payment turnaround time is slower than other services, but the company accepts a wider variety of gadgets — matching nearly every type of electronic device it sells, including various laptop options, smartphone options, wearables, digital camera options, and video game consoles. You can trade in your gaming system, video games, and an iPhone or iPad at the same time, for example.

Payment method: PayPal, Zelle or check

Turnaround time: Typically 72 hours after receiving your item(s), but you can pay for 24-hour turnaround.

Unlike the previous services for selling electronics online, the ItsWorthMore program will pay you through your choice of PayPal, Zelle or an old-fashioned paper check.

The process for selling electronic goods entails answering some questions about the old cell phone, tablet, Apple Watch (or other Apple device) or computer you’re selling. ItsWorthMore will then give you an offer and, if you accept it, provide you with a prepaid shipping label. During the checkout process, you can select how you want to receive your payment. You also have the option to pay $15 for two-day shipping and 24-hour processing time. Otherwise, standard shipping and a turn around target time of 72 hours. However, processing can take up to five business days.

When your device is received, ItsWorthMore will verify if the indicated working condition is accurate — that is, whether it’s in good condition, fair, broken, and so on. If there’s a discrepancy, you’ll have a chance to ask for the device back or accept the revised offer.

Old laptops shouldn’t just collect dust.

    Joshua Goldman/CNET

Payment method: PayPal, direct deposit, BuyBackWorld gift card, prepaid debit card or check

Turnaround time: 48 hours after passing inspection

BuyBackWorld will buy a wide range of products including phones, tablets, iPods, cameras, game consoles, computers, headphones, drones and, well, you get the point. You can even get a custom quote for products that aren’t listed on the site.

After getting a quote and selecting how you want to be paid, send your item(s) into BuyBackWorld. Once they receive your shipment, they’ll inspect your items and you’ll get paid. If the quote is adjusted after inspection, you’ll have the option to accept the new offer or have your device returned to you.

  • YouTube TV Prices Are Going Up. Here’s What You’ll Pay Now

YouTube TV Prices Are Going Up. Here’s What You’ll Pay Now

YouTube TV — a CNET Editor’s Choice award pick — announced on March 16 that it is raising its prices from $65 a month to $73 a month. New subscribers will be charged the higher price starting now, while existing subscribers will be charged the updated price starting April 18.

“As content costs have risen and we continue to invest in our quality of service, we’ll be adjusting our monthly cost … to bring you the best possible TV service,” YouTube TV wrote on Twitter, saying it’s the first increase in three years.

Though YouTube TV said new subscribers will be charged the higher price starting now, the service is offering those same subscribers $10 off their first three months of the base YouTube TV plan. That means new subscribers will effectively be charged $63 for their first three months before the price reverts back to $73 a month.

YouTube TV also said it was lowering the price of its 4K Plus add-on to $10 a month. This service cost $20 a month previously.

Some people on Twitter speculated that the price increase was due to NFL Sunday Ticket coming to YouTube. But YouTube responded that the increase is because of “the broader rise of content costs.”

Brent Lawton, vice president of media strategy and business development at the NFL, said in December that Sunday Ticket would be an additional cost on top of YouTube TV. Peter King, from NBC Sports, said one source estimated the cost of Sunday Ticket would be around $300 for the season, but there’s no official figure attached to the subscription at this time.
