  • This $8 Cyber Monday Card Game Was a Highlight of Our Family Vacation

This $8 Cyber Monday Card Game Was a Highlight of Our Family Vacation

There are a ton of great Cyber Monday deals on big-ticket items like laptops or TVs that can save you hundreds of dollars, but if you’re looking to stock up on family laughs, it’s the little deals that often make the biggest impact. For my family, that was the case with Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, an unassuming card game packed with potential hilarity.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza might be the most fun I’ve had with a card game since forever, and it made our recent vacation very memorable. And now you can pick it up for yourself at a special $8 price.

We took Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza to the poolside in Crete and everyone must have thought we had enjoyed the all-inclusive drinks a little too much. It’s impossible to play this game without shouting, laughing and sometimes even crying — again, maybe that was just me — at how much fun it can be. And the best part? It’s just so simple.

Each player puts down a card and says “Taco,” “Cat,” “Goat,” “Cheese” and “Pizza” in order. If the word matches the card, the last person to slap their hand down has to pick up all the cards — with some special cards and actions I won’t spoil for you. The person who run out of cards first wins. Simple, right? And yes, dear reader, I always finished with the most. I do indeed suck at this game.

But you know what? It doesn’t matter, because it’s so fun that I don’t care. I sincerely hope that you’re better at Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza than I am but, frankly, you won’t care if you aren’t, either.

  • How I Feel One Year After Ditching My Android for an iPhone

It’s been a year since I abandoned my decade-long relationship with the Samsung Galaxy and switched to the iPhone 14 Pro, and I’m happy to report I don’t regret a thing.

I loved my Galaxy devices and was always a proud Android user, but a series of factors — namely, my eagerness to try Apple’s hardware and software, as well as a desire to no longer be bullied for green texts (which is Apple’s fault) — enticed me to switch teams. It’s been smooth sailing since then, and I’ll be bold enough to say I don’t see myself ever going back.

One of the main reasons is my love for iMessage. It’s been surprisingly seamless to stay in touch with friends (due in no small part to the fact that they actually want to include me in group texts now without giving me crap about it), and the messaging experience is just more enjoyable with reactions and hi-res images and videos.

I had and loved RCS messaging on my Galaxy, which, like iMessage, shows typing indicators and read receipts, supports sending high-quality media and lets you react to messages. But few of my friends had phones that supported RCS messaging, or if they did, they just never cared to enable it. And until very recently, Apple resisted pressure to adopt RCS on iPhones, but shockingly reversed course in mid-November. That means that while I had an Android, I could hardly reap the benefits of RCS, while I apparently made my (dramatic) iPhone-using friends’ lives more difficult.

I’ve also become a sucker for AirDrop. Because I shoot a lot of videos on my phone for work as well as my personal social media accounts, it’s been a game changer to be able to instantly share videos between my iPhone and MacBook.

Sharing pictures and videos after a hangout is painless, too. Yes, third-party apps like WhatsApp and Google Drive exist, but WhatsApp still reduces video quality, and using Google Drive is relatively slow and feels like actual work. So, AirDrop is the clear winner here.

Speaking of videos, the quality on my iPhone is unmatched; regular shots as well as Cinematic mode videos are crisp and clear, and better supported by apps like TikTok. While I’ve always admired how vibrant images on the Galaxy look, and admittedly think some iPhone photos look too dark and shadow-y, that video quality has me hooked.

An iPhone feature that took me by surprise when it won me over is MagSafe. I initially didn’t understand the appeal of this: Why charge using MagSafe if it takes two seconds to plug in a cable? But little did I know that it was less about the charging, and more about the accessories. I’ve become reliant on my MagSafe portable charger, which is much easier to carry around than my massive power brick, as well as my MagSafe wallet. Safe to say (see what I did there?), I get it now.

There is one feature I admittedly still miss, even one year into ditching my Android: Object Eraser. This is a Galaxy feature that lets you remove any person or object from your photos by drawing a line around what you want to get rid of, then tapping a button to make them disappear. This was great for when I had an almost perfect image, but someone was photobombing or there was something distracting in the way.

The Google Pixel lineup has a similar feature called Magic Eraser, as well as a next-level tool called Magic Editor, which, in addition to removing anything from your photo, lets you move people and objects around and change the background. It’s cool and creepy all at once.

Sadly, Apple still doesn’t have a similar AI-based editing feature built into Photos. If I wanted to remove anything from an image, I’d need to go into Photoshop, and Lord knows I’m not doing that. So I’d love for that capability to be added in a future software update.

Check out the video above for more iPhone features I can’t live without (and to see whether I now condone bullying people for having green texts).

  • This Cyber Monday Deal Lets You Snag Windows 11 Pro for Just $23

This Cyber Monday Deal Lets You Snag Windows 11 Pro for Just $23

If you’re running an older version of Windows and want to upgrade to something newer or are building a new PC, then you’ll likely want to aim for Windows 11. Unfortunately, it’s a very expensive OS, and if you grab it from Microsft, you’re going to be putting down a considerable $200 to get it. Luckily, there’s an excellent Cyber Monday deal from StackSocial that drops the Windows 11 Pro license down to just $23. That’s a low price for a lifetime license, so definitely grab it while the deal lasts.

This is a great price, but it’s important to note that not every computer out there is able to run Windows 11, so before you buy it, you’re going to want to ensure that your computer will meet the requirements for the operating system. Additionally, the listing says that if you have a PC that’s already running Windows 10, and Windows Update doesn’t let you install the free Windows 11 upgrade, your computer won’t be compatible with this version either.

The activation key that’s provided following your purchase can be used to install and activate Windows 11 Pro on one computer. To be clear, purchases like this are generally intended for advanced users — those who are building a new computer or who want to dual-boot an existing computer with a second OS. If you’re doing that, you will need a secondary PC to access and download the files, so be sure you can access everything from another computer in your home or you have a friend’s machine that you can use temporarily. You’ll also want to have a USB thumb drive on hand to transfer the file, but with plenty of Amazon Cyber Monday deals going on right now you won’t have a problem finding an affordable one.

  • Cyber Monday Drops the Apple Pencil 2 to a New All-Time Low (Save $49)

Cyber Monday Drops the Apple Pencil 2 to a New All-Time Low (Save $49)

While a lot of Black Friday deals just continue right through Cyber Monday these days, there’s a genuinely new price drop on the Apple Pencil 2 over at Amazon today. The second-gen Apple stylus is down to a new all-time low price of $80 there right now. That’s $49 off its retail price and $9 lower than we’ve seen it offered the last few days.

That 38% saving is available to anyone who wants it, with no discount codes or on-screen coupons, nor do you have to be an Amazon Prime subscriber. But you do need to act soon — there’s no indication of when this deal is going to end, which means it could sell out without warning.

The Apple Pencil is a great way to take notes and get creative when using an iPad, and the second-gen model is the best of the bunch with support for advanced features like tapping to change tools and more. It also magnetically connects to the side of compatible iPads to wirelessly charge and pair, ensuring that it’s always charged and ready to go when inspiration strikes. The second-gen Apple Pencil works with the iPad Pro 12.9-inch (third-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-gen models); iPad Pro 11-inch (first-, second-, third- and fourth-gen models); iPad Air (fourth- and fifth-gen models); and the sixth-gen iPad Mini.

With Amazon’s Cyber Monday sale well underway, there are plenty of discounts across other Apple products this year. If you haven’t yet taken the plunge on a new iPad, be sure to check out our roundup of the best Cyber Monday iPad deals you can buy.

Chiefs vs. Raiders Livestream: How to Watch NFL Week 12 Online Today

The 7-3 Kansas City Chiefs lead the AFC West, but are coming off a loss to the Eagles last week on Monday Night Football. The 5-6 Raiders also lost last week and are in danger of falling out of the AFC playoff race.

These two AFC West rivals meet in Las Vegas on Sunday in a game that could have a lasting impact on the divisional race down the stretch, especially with the Broncos suddenly entering the picture by winning four straight to get to 5-5.

The Chiefs and Raiders kick off in Las Vegas at 1:25 p.m. PT (4:25 p.m. ET) on CBS. We’ll show you how you can watch, even if the game isn’t available on your local CBS channel.

The gridiron clash will be shown on TV in the Kansas City and Las Vegas areas (according to 506 Sports) on live TV streaming services, but there may be cases where you’re blocked because of an internet location glitch, or you just want an added layer of privacy for streaming. There’s an option that doesn’t require subscribing to something like NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Plus, or searching the internet for a sketchy website: You can use a virtual private network, or VPN.

Here’s how you can watch the game from anywhere in the US with a VPN.

Chiefs vs. Raiders: When and where?

For Week 12 of the NFL season, the Raiders host the Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. ET (1:25 p.m. PT) on Sunday. The game is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, home of the Raiders.

How to watch the Chiefs vs. Raiders game online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the game locally due to incorrectly applied blackout restrictions, you may need a different way to watch the game and that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, plus it’s a great idea for when you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. So if your internet provider or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, nonblackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US and Canada, as long as you’ve got a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

How to watch Chiefs vs. Raiders in the US

This week’s Chiefs-Raiders game is on CBS, so in addition to a VPN, you’ll need a live TV streaming service that carries a local CBS affiliate that’s broadcasting the game. The good news for football fans is that CBS is available on most of the major streaming services. The least expensive option is Paramount Plus.

Numerous other live TV streaming services carry local CBS stations as well, namely YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, DirecTV Stream and Fubo. They all cost far more than Paramount Plus, but they also carry many live channels, including football broadcasting channels like Fox and ESPN. Check out our live TV streaming services guide for details.

If you live in an area where the game is being broadcast, an over-the-air antenna connected to your TV provides another option for CBS. The best part about antennas is that there are no streaming or monthly fees required, though you will need to make sure you have good reception.

Quick tips for streaming Chiefs vs. Raiders game using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — experience and success may vary.
    • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
    • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
    • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

  • The PlayStation Portal Is Sold Out Ahead of Cyber Monday. Here Are Your Best Options To Check for More Stock

The PlayStation Portal Is Sold Out Ahead of Cyber Monday. Here Are Your Best Options To Check for More Stock

With early Cyber Monday deals upon us, one item is unfortunately not available, and that’s the PlayStation Portal. It’s currently sold out at Best Buy, Target, Amazon, Gamestop and PlayStation Direct. Meanwhile, other retailers like Walmart and Newegg haven’t even listed the Portal yet. There is, however, at least one strategy that can give you a better chance at getting a Portal, but it’ll still be difficult. At least it doesn’t involve paying resellers inflated prices on eBay or StockX. Scroll down to read how.

    Check PlayStation Portal stock here

We’re still seeing the Portal go in and out of stock at Best Buy. It’s sporadic, but worth clicking through to see if and when that’s changing in real time — either at Best Buy or at these other retailers, where it’s sold at its list price of $200.

    Willing to pay more?

Unfortunately, resellers have caught on to the hype, and are reselling the game streaming device for over $300 on sites like eBay and StockX. We don’t recommend paying the markup, but if you absolutely must have a PlayStation Portal for the holidays, it’s an option.

The PlayStation Portal is Sony’s $200 PS5 accessory that looks like a Nintendo Switch, but isn’t a dedicated gaming handheld. Games stream via Wi-Fi from your PS5 to the device, allowing you to game in bed, from the sofa or wherever there’s a good connection. While the streaming quality won’t compare to when you’re playing on your PS5 on a TV, it’s still a good stopgap measure when you can’t game on the couch, for whatever reason.

Your best chance at grabbing a PlayStation Portal at retail price

Now that PlayStation Portals are showing out of stock across the internet, that doesn’t mean retailers aren’t updating inventory as more come in. The problem is that so few units come in that once websites are updated, it immediately sells out again. To even have a chance at grabbing a PlayStation Portal at retail price, you’ll have to use stock trackers and enable alerts on your phone.

The app we like to recommend is Hot Stock. It tracks inventory from across the net and sends you notifications for when things come in stock. Even then, if you do get a notification saying that the Portal is in stock, by the time you add it to your cart, it might have already sold out. Plus, to get the earliest notifications, you’ll need to pay for the privilege, which costs $5.49 per month.

If you don’t want to go through the hassle, a Twitter account we like to recommend is Wario64. The account compiles video game deals from across the net. But, with over 1 million followers, if the account puts out a tweet showing Portal in stock, know that many people will rush towards that buy button. But, at least it’s free.
