Shokz OpenRun Pro Premium Bone-Conduction Headphones Are Just $140 at Amazon

Runners will find these lightweight, ninth-gen bone-conduction headphones with an open-ear design a great asset to keep them entertained and motivated while exercising. Bone-conducting headphones work by resting on your cheekbones, delivering the sound to your ears through vibrations, which means you’ll be able to stay aware of your surroundings, which is a safer option than traditional headphones or earbuds. The current flagship model from Shokz (formerly AfterShokz) earned a spot on our roundup of the best running headphones and earbuds of 2024 — and right now you can snag a pair at a discount.

You’ll normally have to shell out $180 to grab a pair of these headphones, but Amazon has slashed the price by 22% right now, meaning you can snag a pair for just $140. While we’ve technically seen the OpenRun Pro drop $15 lower during last year’s Black Friday seasonal deals, this is the first time we’ve seen a price drop since and it’s a great chance to snag a pair for yourself without paying top dollar. And they make a great Valentine’s Day gift, too. We don’t know how long this offer will last, so we recommend making your purchase sooner rather than later.

The lightweight, wrap-around design should remain comfortable and secure regardless of how intense your workout gets. And you’ll get up to 10 hours of battery life per charge, with a 5-minute top-off giving you up to 90 minutes of playback when you’re short on time and need a boost. They’re also IP55-rated water-resistant and come equipped with dual noise-canceling microphones and more powerful bass than its predecessor, which makes the OpenRun Pro a solid option for listening to music and podcasts or taking calls on the go. And you’ll also get a hard carrying case with your purchase to keep your headphones safe.

However, if this pair doesn’t quite meet your needs, you can check out our roundup of other earbuds and headphones deals happening now for more options that can save you some cash.

  • Grab New and Used Gaming Laptops in This Massive Woot Sale

Grab New and Used Gaming Laptops in This Massive Woot Sale

If you like to game but need to take your gear on the go, you might want to grab a gaming laptop to get your game on. Unfortunately, gaming laptops tend to be quite expensive, so we’re happy to see that there are some great deals as part of this gaming laptop sale on Woot. There are both new and refurbished options to go for, although most of them mostly have the older RTX 30-series GPUs, with some of them still being pretty excellent.

We’ve picked our favorite deals below, but it’s well worth checking everything available using the button below. Also, be aware that this sale ends on Feb. 7 at 12 a.m. CT, so grab the deals while they’re hot.

Probably one of our favorite budget-friendly picks is this ASUS VivoBook Pro 16X, which is a good option if you’re more interested in the screen quality since it has a 16-inch OLED screen and a 3,840×2,400 resolution. It also has a solid mid-to-high-end AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU that’s going to be more than enough for most productivity and day-to-day tasks. As for the GPU, you get the RTX 3050 Ti, which is admittedly a very entry-level graphics card, but you can certainly get some indie and casual gaming done. You can grab the VivoBook Pro 16X for $950 instead of the usual $1,500.

Another excellent budget-friendly option is the ASUS ROG Strix, which is going for just $900 and has a better GPU in the form of the RTX 3060. The 15.6-inch screen only runs at a 1080p resolution, although it can hit a 144Hz refresh rate, meaning that it won’t push the RTX 3060 too hard, and you should be able to hit that refresh rate pretty well. More surprisingly, you get the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, which is a very high-end CPU, so it can handle complex things like streaming, music production and more resource-hungry game genres like Simulation and RTS.

Finally, if you want something with a bit of graphical oomph, then you might want to grab this Acer Nitro 5, which has the very impressive RTX 3080 under the hood. Luckily, that means it should easily be able to handle the 1440p screen running at 165Hz resolution, with a very tiny bit of graphical compromise. You also get a similar high-end AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, as well as 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. You can have all of that for just $1,120, so it’s well worth grabbing if you like what you see, and if not, be sure to check out some other great gaming laptop deals as well.

Traveling with your phone has gotten better in recent years, but it can still get costly. While roaming in Canada and Mexico is included by all three major US carriers, going beyond North America can be expensive, particularly if you want faster than 3G or 2G speeds that aren’t helpful for much more than light messaging, navigation and email checks.

The rise of the eSIM has also made the need to hunt down a physical SIM card a thing of the past as most modern phones can get you a local SIM card in seconds through an app. Though with the increased length of installment plans, you may save money by paying the roaming fees and keeping your trade-in credits for more valuable things than paying to unlock your phone.

    sim-cards

Sound confusing? Let’s try and clear things up.

What are the best phone plans with international roaming?

While we’re going to focus this section on US carriers, many of the other tips could be applied to those traveling in from other countries.

In the US, my pick for the best plan for frequent globe trotters is Verizon’s Unlimited Ultimate. The carrier’s latest, most premium unlimited plan takes a page from T-Mobile’s playbook and includes international texting and data in over 210 countries (neither includes voice, though you can get around that by using WhatsApp, FaceTime or other messaging apps’ voice-calling features).

Verizon, unlike T-Mobile, lets you “mix and match” plans for different lines on your account which could be helpful for those on family plans. This means that you can have one line on Ultimate for the month when you’ll be traveling while keeping the other lines on more affordable Unlimited Plus or Welcome options. You can also lower the line on an Ultimate plan down to a more affordable one when you aren’t traveling, though if you also get an upgrade during this time moving away from the Ultimate plan could affect any new phone deals you may have taken advantage of (Verizon’s best upgrade offers are generally now tied to its priciest unlimited plans).

Sign up today for a Vision Pro demo at your local Apple Store

You can sign up for a Vision Pro demo at your local Apple Store now.

During the roughly 25-minute demonstration, an Apple Store employee will walk you through the process of using the headset.

Be warned: With the frenzy surrounding the Vision Pro, you may expect lines, and the demos are first come, first served. So get there early on Sunday if you want a chance of trying out the headset.

People waiting in line for the Apple Vision Pro

To get a demo today, Sunday, you’ll need to head to your local Apple Store and sign up in person. Once you’re at the store, the process is easy: Find an Apple employee; tell them you want to demo the headset; give them your name and contact information; and reserve a demo time. You can leave the store and come back if your appointment is later on in the day.

The process to book a demo after Sunday (Monday through Thursday this week) is easier — you can do it online. Head to either Apple’s Vision Pro page or the Apple Store app and tap the Book a demo button. After you sign in with your Apple ID (you’ll need two-factor authentication enabled), book your appointment. Right now you can book a demo for Feb. 5 through Feb. 8.

People wearing the Vision Pro at the Apple Store

I got to demo the Apple Vision Pro on Friday, and it went smoothly. I waited in line, an Apple employee checked me in, and then I came back during my appointment time. From there, I scanned my face to get fitted for the Vision Pro, and because I wear prescription glasses, I had them scanned to get the appropriate Zeiss Optical Inserts. An Apple employee then walked me through various gestures to navigate the headset, and I got to browse the internet in Safari, check out spatial videos shot on the iPhone and watch a really immersive video demo from Apple TV.

While you’re here, check out what iPhone spatial videos look like on the Vision Pro.

  • Man United vs. West Ham Livestream: How to Watch English Premier League Soccer From Anywhere

Man United vs. West Ham Livestream: How to Watch English Premier League Soccer From Anywhere

After a dramatic 4-3 win away at Wolves in midweek, Manchester United are looking upwards in the English Premier League as they take on fellow European hopefuls West Ham on Sunday at Old Trafford.

Kobbie Mainoo’s injury-time winner at Molineux spared Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag some flak, having seen his side squander a first-half two-goal lead. Currently in seventh position, just one point and a place behind their opponents today, the hosts will now be hoping Thursday’s confidence-boosting victory will give them the platform to mount a challenge to break back into the top five.

Despite a disappointing draw in midweek at home to Bournemouth, West Ham still find themselves in a strong position coming into the latter part of the season. Hammers boss David Moyes will nevertheless have been disappointed overall by West Ham’s business during the January transfer window, which saw midfielders Pablo Fornals and Saïd Benrahma depart the club in near-farcical circumstances, without managing to secure any replacements for the duo.

Below, we’ll outline the best live TV streaming services to use to watch the game live wherever you are in the world.

West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips, running, looking downwards to his left.

Manchester United vs. West Ham United: When and where?

Manchester United host West Ham United at Old Trafford on Sunday, Feb. 4. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. GMT (9 a.m. ET, 6 a.m. PT in the US and Canada, and 1 a.m. AEDT in Australia on Monday, Feb. 5).

How to watch the Man United vs. West Ham game online from anywhere using a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view the game locally, you may need a different way to watch the game — that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it’s also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. So if your internet provider or mobile carrier has stuck you with an IP address that incorrectly shows your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can correct that problem by giving you an IP address in your correct, non-blackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

Livestream Man United vs. West Ham in the US

Sunday’s Man United-West Hammatch is streaming on Peacock. You’ll need a Peacock Premium or Premium Plus account to catch the game live.

Livestream the Man United vs. West Ham game in the UK

Premier League rights in the UK are split between Sky Sports, Amazon Prime Video and TNT Sports (previously known as BT Sport). Man United vs. West Ham is exclusive to Sky Sports, showing on its Sky Sports Main Event, Premier League and Ultra channels. If you already have Sky Sports as part of your TV package, you can stream the game via its Sky Go app, but cord-cutters will want to get set up with a Now account and a Now Sports membership to stream the game.

Livestream the Man United vs. West Ham game in Canada

If you want to stream Man United vs. West Ham live in Canada, you’ll need to subscribe to Fubo. The service has exclusive rights for this Premier League season.

Livestream the Man United vs. West Ham game in Australia

Football fans Down Under can watch this EPL fixture on streaming service Optus Sport, which is showing every single Premier League game live in Australia this season.

Quick tips for streaming the Premier League using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming EPL matches may vary.
    • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
    • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
    • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.
  • iOS 17.4 Beta 1: Your iPhone Could Get These Features Soon

iOS 17.4 Beta 1: Your iPhone Could Get These Features Soon

Apple released iOS 17.4 beta 1 to public beta testers on Tuesday, a few days after the company released the beta to developers and more than a week after the release of iOS 17.3. The beta brings new features, including major changes for people in the European Union and new emoji, to some developers and beta testers’ iPhones.

Read more: Why You Should Download iOS 17.3 Now

We recommend downloading a beta only on something other than your primary device. Since this isn’t the final version of iOS 17.4, these features might be buggy and battery life may be short, and it’s best to keep those troubles on a secondary device.

If you’re a developer or public beta tester, here are some of the new features you can find in iOS 17.4 beta 1. Note that the beta is not the final version of iOS 17.4, so these might not be the only new features to land on your iPhone when iOS 17.4 is released. There’s no word on the public release for iOS 17.4 just yet, but Apple has indicated it will likely be in March.

Downloading other app stores in the EU

Apple introduced a significant change to Safari, the App Store and iOS with iOS 17.4 beta 1, but only for people in the EU. With iOS 17.4 beta 1, people in the EU can download an alternative app store and apps from outside the App Store. According to CNET’s Katie Collins, this marks one of the largest changes to the App Store since its inception in 2008. People in the EU will also be given new default app controls, giving them more ways to customize their iPhone experience.

    apple-store-iphone11-app-9823

Apple made these changes, which were announced Thursday, to comply with the EU’s Digital Markets Act. The company said these changes will go into effect once Europeans download iOS 17.4 in March or later. There’s no word on whether these changes will be available globally.

    More options for in-app payments

Apple introduced more ways to make in-app payments with the first iOS 17.4 beta. If you go to Settings > Privacy & Security, you’ll see an option called Contactless & NFC, or near-field communication. If you tap the new option, you’ll be taken to a mostly blank page that has a small disclaimer that says the page will show apps that have requested the ability to use contactless and NFC payments in the future. Apple announced these options alongside the changes for people in the EU, and there’s no word on whether this will be utilized by apps outside that region.

    New regional identifier

In the first beta of iOS 17.4, there’s also a new regional identifier. If you go to Settings > General > About and scroll to the bottom of the page, you’ll see Identifiable_Region. There is a link to learn more about the feature, but it doesn’t appear to work at this time. This indicator might be a way for Apple to identify who is in the EU and can have the new settings mentioned above, but it’s unclear at this time.

    At least 100 new emoji

New emoji to come to iPhones with the first iOS 17.4 developer beta

Apple introduced over 100 new emoji to iPhone users with the first beta of iOS 17.4. Those emoji include heads shaking up and down as well as left and right, a phoenix emoji and a slice of lime. These emoji were announced in 2023, and some Android devices, including the latest Samsung phones, already have them.

    More Stolen Device Protection options

With iOS 17.4 beta 1, Apple introduced a few new options in Stolen Device Protection. The new options let you choose whether you want to always require a one-hour Security Delay to access certain settings or make changes, or to only require the delay when you’re away from a familiar location like your home.

Apple introduced Stolen Device Protection with iOS 17.3, and the intent of the feature is to protect some of your data if your device is stolen or falls into nefarious hands. The feature doesn’t protect all your data, but Apple still recommends everyone turn it on.

    Podcasts can now show transcripts

    apple-podcast-icon

In the first iOS 17.4 beta, you can read the transcripts of your favorite Podcasts as you listen to them. To see the transcripts, go into Podcasts and start listening to a show, tap the show’s banner across the bottom of your screen. Then, look at the bottom of the show’s title card and you’ll see a new button in the bottom left corner that looks like a speech bubble with quotes inside it. Tap this button and you’ll see the transcript of the show you’re listening to. You can search within the transcript, too, so if someone mentions a book or movie title and you only remember part of it, you can search the part you do know and find the whole title.

New Home page in the Music app

Apple introduced a Home button in Apple Music with iOS 17.4 beta 1. If you open the app and look at the bottom of your screen, the Home button replaced the Listen Now button in the far left corner. If you tap this button and you subscribe to Apple Music, you’re taken to a page that shows you menus, like Recently Played, and recommendations based on artists you’ve listened to.

Siri can send messages in more than one language

With the first iOS 17.4 beta, Apple gave Siri the ability to send messages in multiple languages. If you go to Settings > Siri & Search, you’ll see the option Messaging with Siri, which replaced Automatically Send Messages. Tap Messaging with Siri and you’ll see Add Language. If you tap this, you can have Siri send messages in other languages, like Arabic, Spanish and Thai. Apple writes that Siri will also read messages using the languages in this list, but choosing one from this list won’t change the primary language Siri listens and responds in. Prior to this, Siri could only send messages in English.

    Stopwatch in Live Activities

The stopwatch running in the Dynamic Island on iPhones

With iOS 17.4 beta 1, your Clock app’s stopwatch function can now display across the top of your screen on iPhones with Live Activities, like the iPhone 14 Pro or the iPhone 15. Before when you’d use the stopwatch, you’d have to stay in the app to keep an eye on the stopwatch. With this beta, you can start the stopwatch, then go to your home screen or into another app and the stopwatch will display across the top of your screen.

Those are some of the new features developers and beta testers will see in the first iOS 17.4 beta. That doesn’t mean these are the only features coming to the next iOS update, or that these changes will stick when iOS 17.4 is released to the public. As of right now, there’s no exact release date for iOS 17.4, but Apple has indicated it might be released in March.

For more on iOS 17, check out what was included in iOS 17.3 and iOS 17.2. You can also check out our iOS 17 cheat sheet.

‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’: How to Watch Season 12 From Anywhere

After 24 years of hilariously awkward social interactions, it’s time to bid farewell to Curb Your Enthusiasm as the comedy show’s twelfth and final season hits the airwaves.

As ever, Seinfeld creator Larry David plays a fictionalized version of himself that seems incapable of applying any sort of filter, resulting in a seemingly never-ending supply of cringe-inducing faux pas, politically incorrect outbursts and disastrous mishaps.

Larry’s now-ex-wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines), manager Jeff (Jeff Garlin) and his wife Susie (Susie Essman), and roommate Leon (J.B Smoove) are all back for this final run, while you can expect guest appearances from the likes of Coda star Troy Kotsur.

Need a final fix of Larry’s misanthropy? Here’s how you can tune into Curb Your Enthusiasm season 12. Plus, learn how a virtual private network can come in handy while you stream.

So what if you’re traveling outside your home country and want to enjoy the show or want an added layer of privacy for streaming? There is an option that doesn’t require searching the internet for a sketchy website: You can use a VPN, or virtual private network.

    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.
