Apple TV 4K Refresh Adds Far-Field Microphones for Hands-Free Siri Control

Apple is launching an updated Apple TV 4K today featuring two notable hardware additions: far-field microphones enabling hands-free Siri interaction and Find My integration in the remote.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, unveiled at Apple’s Welcome Home event in New York City, marks the first model to support the Siri AI voice assistant and introduces a new home theater capability allowing pairing of up to four second-generation HomePods or HomePod Mini 2 units for surround sound.

The fourth-generation streaming device also receives a surround-sound enhancement and the ability to locate your Siri remote.

The new Apple TV 4K is priced at $299, over double the launch price of the previous-generation Apple TV 4K and $50 above the current flagship model (which is being phased out). The fourth-gen model matches that version’s specifications with 128GB storage, an Ethernet port, and Thread and Matter support, but upgrades to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It launches November 13th, with preorders starting today, October 13th.

Apple announced the device as part of a significant new smart home initiative, which includes the new HomeView smart display ($299), HomePod Mini 2 ($149), and a range of smart home devices developed in partnership with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

The new Apple TV ships with an A19 chip, first seen in last year’s iPhone 17, which enables Siri AI support out of the box.
